Brett Dockwell Quoted in Wall Street Journal on WeWork Lease Amendments and Landlord-Lender Strain
Partner Brett Dockwell was quoted in a Wall Street Journal article entitled “WeWork Wrestles to Amend Leases as Landlords Seek Clarity on Restructuring Plan.” The article discussed how landlords who prefer to keep WeWork as a tenant due to record-high availability rates in the office real estate market are now faced with the prospect of needing to invest more equity in their properties to keep them afloat.
According to Brett, who chairs Morrison Cohen’s Valuation Disputes Group and represents several WeWork landlords, the need for more equity is likely to trigger discussions with investors backing the property. “That’s a difficult process that requires investors to make a determination as to what they think about the long-term prospects of the property,” he said.
