North Castle Partners Acquires Jenny Craig
On November 22, 2013, Morrison Cohen client North Castle Partners, a private equity firm focused on investments in consumer-driven businesses that promote health, wellness, and active living, completed the acquisition from Nestlé S.A. of the Jenny Craig business in North America, Australia, and other parts of the Pacific region.
Jenny Craig, one of the world's largest weight-loss-management companies, with more than 600 company-owned and franchised centers globally, provides consumers with a variety of weight-loss products and services, including portion-controlled, pre-packaged food menus designed by nutritionists and food scientists and weekly, personally tailored weight-loss consultation sessions.
North Castle Partners plans to integrate the acquired Jenny Craig business with Curves International, one of the largest fitness club franchisors in the world, which North Castle acquired in 2012. The result will be a one-of-a kind wellness company that offers consumers an array of diet and fitness tools to meet their individual needs.
