MoCo Managing Partner Quoted on New York Law Firm Mergers

In an article published on December 3, 2013, the New York Law Journal reviewed the state of the ongoing trend for non-New York law firms to seek to enter the New York legal market by merging with New York firms. According to the article, “[m]erging into New York remains a priority for many out-of-state firms.” But not all New York law firms are interested in merging. “We're not interested at all,” said Morrison Cohen Chairman and Managing Partner David A. Scherl, quoted in the article. He pointed out a number of ways that a merger with a large national firm might undercut the Morrison Cohen service model, which offers clients partner-level attention and a rational approach to billing.
