Morrison Cohen Ranked Among Most Active Law Firms Representing Private Equity and Venture Capital Funds and Deals

For the seventh year in a row, Morrison Cohen LLP has been ranked among the most active law firms by Dow Jones Private Equity Analyst in closing private equity and venture capital deals and in representing private equity and venture capital funds.

As reported in the April 2011 issue of Private Equity Analyst:

In number of private equity or venture capital deals negotiated and closed in 2011, Morrison Cohen's 84 private equity and venture deals placed us as the 34th most active law firm ahead of many larger firms including Skadden Arps, Weil Gotshal, Dewey & LeBoeuf, Davis Polk, Dechert, Paul Weiss, Freid Frank, Simpson Thacher, Shearman & Sterling, Gibson Dunn, O'Melveny & Myers and Greenberg Traurig.

In number of private equity or venture funds representing either general or limited partners that had a final close in 2010, Morrison Cohen's 40 funds placed us as the 26th most active law firm, ahead of larger firms such as Skadden Arps, Davis Polk, Weil Gotshal, Dechert, Paul Hastings, McDermott Will, DLA Piper, Orrick Herrington, Vinson & Elkins and Foley & Lardner.

"We continue to be ranked among the most active law firms in the private equity fund formation and investment and acquisition space for transactions consummated during 2010", said Chairman, David A. Scherl. "We are very proud of this accomplishment, especially when you take into consideration that we are a fraction of the size of our much larger competitors. Our model continues to pick up market share in the private equity sponsor community, and, for that, we are very appreciative."
