Morrison Cohen Sponsors 2015 World Tennis Day Event Benefiting USTA Foundation

March 12, 2015 - Morrison Cohen and Y. David Scharf, a long time board member of the USTA Foundation, sponsored the BNP Paribas Showdown at Madison Square Garden on March 10, 2015. The Showdown featured a youth tennis demonstration and exhibition matches between Hall of Famers and former U.S. Open champions Monica Seles and Gabriela Sabatini and the headlining match between five-time U.S. Open champion Roger Federer and rising star Grigor Dimitrov. For the second consecutive year, the USTA Foundation served as the official charity of the BNP Paribas Showdown.

The Showdown was the highlight of 2015 World Tennis Day, which was launched in 2013 with the goal of promoting the sport of tennis and increasing tennis participation among young players around the globe.

The USTA Foundation supports programs nationwide that leverage tennis, education and life skills to prepare under-resourced youth for college and beyond. To date, the Foundation has awarded more than $19 million, benefitting thousands of children and adults through tennis, education, and health programs and college scholarships. David serves on the Finance Committee and co-chairs the Hamptons Pro-Am Committee for the USTA Foundation.
