Danielle Lesser Participates in Judges Panel on Selecting Judicial Adjuncts
April 27, 2015 - Danielle C. Lesser, Morrison Cohen Partner and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Business Litigation Department, as part of a judicial working group, participated in a program on April 21, 2015, to educate state and federal judges on the judicial role in the selecting and appointing of fiduciaries, monitors, masters, receivers and other judicial adjuncts, with the purpose of educating the judiciary on increasing the number of women and minority appointments.
The panelists included Justice Alan Scheinkman, Justice Eileen Bransten, Judge Shira Scheindlin and Judge William Kuntz II. The panel was moderated by Chief Judge Loretta Preska with introductory remarks by Justice Gail Prudenti.
Sponsored by the New York State-Federal Judicial Counsel and the National Association of Women Lawyers, more than 50 judges participated in the event along with the members of the committee who serve with Chief Judge Preska, Judge Kuntz and Judge Irizarry.
A follow-up program will take place on September 10, 2015, during which lawyers will learn about ways in which they may be considered for such appointments.
