Eric Moskowitz Quoted in Middle Market Growth on M&A Outlook in 2025
Partner Eric Moskowitz was quoted in a Middle Market Growth article entitled “Unwavering Optimism: Dealmakers Say the M&A Tide Is Finally Turning.” The article, which included data from ACG’s 2025 Middle-Market M&A Outlook Survey, discussed how dealmakers and advisors are optimistic that 2025 will bring the surge of deal activity that was expected in 2024. Nonetheless, they are hedging their predictions a bit, and there is a slight tapering of the volume of deals expected.
As for the current deal landscape, Eric explained, “People are seeing the same deals come around to them multiple times. So, when a quality deal does come through, there are very competitive situations around those deals.” Eric also noted that deal consistency is unlikely to materialize until valuations come down further. “I don’t think that valuations have come down as much as we’d expect, and I think that the lack of deal activity is really the result of the fact that people are still holding on to these notions of value,” he said.
Though a healthy bit of skepticism remains, industry experts are confident that between the amount of assets that are out there and the substantial capital held by private equity funds, 2025 will finally see a major pickup in middle-market M&A activity.
