Y. David Scharf Quoted Regarding Claims Against Client for harassment at UWS Project
Morrison Cohen Chair and Co-Managing Partner Y. David Scharf was quoted in two recent publications regarding client Naftali Group’s plans to move ahead with a new residential building on the Upper West Side, despite an ongoing lawsuit centered on a holdout tenant.
A May 16 Crain’s New York Business article entitled “Naftali Group Plans New Resi Building at Upper West Side Site Tied Up in Litigation” reported that Naftali recently filed plans with the Department of Buildings for the W. 84th Street project: an 18-story property that will include 45 residential units and ground-floor retail.
A May 17 The Real Deal article entitled “Naftali Lays Out Project as Holdout Tenant Plays New Card” also discussed the developer’s plans and detailed the holdout tenant’s lawyer’s new maneuver to drag the developer into an anti-harassment program that could further stall the project.
In both articles, Scharf commented in a statement: “We believe in the court system and the regulatory process that will vindicate the developer’s rights.”
