Y. David Scharf Sponsored Arsht Center’s Anniversary Gala

Chair and Co-Managing Partner Y. David Scharf and his wife, Cheryl, were among the sponsors of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts’ 16th Anniversary Gala, the Center’s marquee philanthropic event, which raised over $13 million toward arts education and paid internships. The Roaring Twenties-themed gala, which was held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Miami’s Ziff Ballet Opera House, brought together more than 250 community leaders to support the Center’s mission-driven arts education and community engagement programs.

David, who was recently appointed Director of the Arsht Center’s Board, and Cheryl served on the gala host committee and were sponsors of the event, which raised a historic amount, thanks to a $10 million endowment gift by Adrienne Arsht and the generosity of individual and corporate supporters in attendance. In addition to supporting the Arsht Center’s overall mission, the gala proceeds will enable the Center’s internship program to be fully paid, creating greater and more equal access to hands-on professional experience in arts management and administration.

David said, “We believe strongly in the arts education and community engagement opportunities that the Arsht Center provides. Now, through the paid internship program, the Center can ensure greater diversity and inclusivity in the next generation of artists and creative thinkers.”
