Joaquin Ezcurra handles a wide variety of litigation matters, including contract disputes, real estate, insurance, matrimonial, employment, libel and securities fraud matters.

Joaquin regularly works with business clients to achieve the best possible resolutions of matters already in litigation or headed to litigation. His varied cases include contractual disputes involving purchases of real estate, enforcement of judgment actions, collection of attorneys’ fees and securities fraud allegations of unsuitable investments, churning and unauthorized trading. Joaquin is experienced in drafting motions and briefs, taking depositions, resolving document production issues and engaging in oral advocacy before courts.

Joaquin joined Morrison Cohen in 2009. He was previously an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. Joaquin is fluent in Spanish.

Experience

  • Defended lawsuit brought against real estate investment company for alleged breach of architectural services contracts. Case was voluntarily dismissed and no damages paid.
  • Successfully defended an investment bank in a securities arbitration filed by a foreign investor for alleged unsuitable investments and unauthorized trading and obtained an award of only $36,000 out of $9.4 million damages claimed.
  • Successfully defended an investment bank in a securities arbitration filed by a charitable foundation for alleged unsuitable investments and obtained an award of no damages.
  • Obtained a favorable settlement for a check cashing and financial services firm in a lawsuit involving an allegedly erroneously check cashing.
