Jeffrey Brooks  has a broad base of experience litigating a variety of complex commercial matters in state and federal courts and before various arbitral tribunals.

Jeff's practice focuses on the representation of clients in breach-of-contract and fraud actions, employment actions, real estate disputes, securities litigations and a variety of complex commercial matters. He has also represented clients in matters involving insurance-coverage disputes, class actions and securities fraud and in connection with SEC and FINRA investigations.

Prior to joining Morrison Cohen, Jeff was an associate in the New York office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.

Experience

  • Successfully represented a pension plan in an arbitration against its former investment manager.
  • Successfully represented a large financial institution in a class action relating to the online trading of securities, obtaining a reversal by the Delaware Supreme Court of a trial court's class certification decision.
  • Successfully represented a former executive of a large multi-national financial institution in an arbitration concerning his entitlement to recover unpaid bonus compensation.
  • Obtained a reversal on appeal of a summary judgment award against a large financial institution in connection with a dispute involving insurance-backed motion picture financing.
  • Authored successful amicus curiae briefs on behalf of SIFMA (the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association) in connection with FSA v. Stephens, Inc., an 11th Circuit case addressing the standing of municipal bond insurers to assert claims under Rule 10b-5.
