Kayla West focuses her practice on representing private sector employers in labor and employment matters, as well as defending employers in federal and state court and before administrative agencies.

Employers and human resource personnel turn to Kayla for counsel in all areas of employment law, including the defense of discrimination, retaliation and reasonable accommodation claims; wage and hour matters; drug testing; affirmative action compliance; handbook policies; diversity, equity and inclusion; family and medical leave; employment agreements; restrictive covenants; severance agreements; individual terminations and reductions in force; and workplace health and safety issues. Kayla has prepared training materials related to sexual harassment, affirmative action compliance and workplace civility. She also has labor-management relations experience, including grievance administration and the defense of unfair labor practice charges. 

Kayla handles employment litigation matters and has represented clients in administrative agency matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and analogous agencies. Kayla’s practice also includes transactional matters, such as potential employment-related successor liability issues, workplace investigations regarding issues arising from employee disputes and complaints, and labor relations.

Prior to joining Morrison Cohen, Kayla was a Labor and Employment associate at Robinson & Cole LLP in Hartford, CT.
