Isaac Grossman Discusses Expiring TCJA Provisions in Financial Times Agenda

Partner Isaac Grossman, chair of Morrison Cohen’s Tax Practice, was quoted in a Financial Times Agenda article entitled “Boards Need to ‘Make Themselves Heard’ on Expiring Tax Benefits.” The article discussed the sunsetting provisions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) and the importance of board members monitoring changes to the tax landscape in the coming year.

Isaac noted that Congress’ stance on these provisions is still unclear. Recent reports suggest that Trump intends to combine both tax and non-tax proposals into “one big beautiful bill.” Trump's plan, announced on January 5, is to tackle these issues via Congress’ reconciliation process to speed up the bill and bypass the Senate filibuster. “I fully expect the extension of the TCJA's expiring provisions to be part of that bill and not be broken into a separate bill,” Isaac stated.
