Partner Alvin Lin, Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Appointed to Executive Committee

Morrison Cohen is delighted to announce that Alvin Lin, partner in the Business Litigation and Intellectual Property Practices and chair of the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Committee, has been appointed to the firm’s Executive Committee.

As chair of the D&I Committee, Alvin has spearheaded the adoption of updated practices and policies relating to hiring and promotion to address inclusion from historically underrepresented groups, and coordinated events and educational outreach to promote and engage in awareness of racial equity and inclusion. Just last month, the D&I Committee sponsored a talk by Dr. Brenna Wynn Greer, who discussed the perils of “symbolic Blackness,” as part of its program to honor Black History Month.

By promoting Alvin to the Executive Committee, Morrison Cohen is strengthening its commitment to a more diverse and inclusive workplace and asserting the importance of D&I initiatives at the firm management level, as well as taking a step toward greater diversity in its own c-suite, which now includes six members of historically underrepresented groups.

“In addition to being an outstanding litigator and intellectual property lawyer, Alvin has gone above and beyond in his role as chair of the D&I Committee,” said Co-Managing Partner Y. David Scharf. “We are thrilled to welcome him to the Executive Committee.”

Alvin joined Morrison Cohen in 2004 and focuses his practice on litigating a wide variety of business disputes involving trademark, copyright, trade secrets, and patents; commercial real estate construction; insurance defense; employment; and IP portfolio management and non-litigation intellectual property issues. He is a member of the Asian-American Legal Defense and Education Fund and of LeGaL (Lesbian and Gay Law Association of Greater New York). He received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, and his A.B., magna cum laude, from Harvard University.
