Morrison Cohen Obtains $22 Million Judgment for Ponzi Victim of Ticket Re-Selling Scheme
January 18, 2021 - Business Litigation Partners Christopher Milito and Y. David Scharf obtained a $22 million judgment on behalf of Taly USA Holdings against a convicted Ponzi schemer who bilked investors out of scores of millions of dollars via a ticket re-selling channel. The award, which was in addition to a grant of attorneys’ fees, is the first granted in favor of any of the victims and is likely to be the most sizeable overall.
The 2017 arrest of Jason Nissen, as well as the subsequent litigations that followed, were widely reported by various media outlets, including the New York Post. This case highlights the need to move quickly to preserve a victim’s priority when multiple creditors are expected to make claims. Once the award is finalized, Morrison Cohen will begin judgment enforcement against the defendant’s dispersed assets.
The case is Taly USA Holdings Inc. v. Jason Nissen, et al., Index Number 652895/2017.
