Morrison Cohen Wins Best Managed Firm Award

On January 10, 2023, Morrison Cohen LLP had the honor of accepting the Best Managed Firm Award at the Ames & Gough Law Firm Excellence Awards, held at the Yale Club in New York City, which celebrated law firms and leaders who make a difference.

In presenting Morrison Cohen with the award, host Uri Gutfreund noted that Chairs and Co-Managing Partners Steven Cooperman and Y. David Scharf assumed their roles two months before the onset of the pandemic, yet the firm’s management team was “able to navigate and overcome the challenges caused by the disruption, using the pandemic as an opportunity to pivot.”

Morrison Cohen was praised for our focus on growing our professional management team, expanding business development training, embracing a hybrid work policy, pursuing our Mansfield certification and adding 27% more lawyers in 2022, more than half of whom are women. The firm was also acknowledged for our “friendly and collegial culture and the genuine professional environment fostered from the top down.”

Exemplifying why Morrison Cohen won the award, Steve broke form and accepted the honor alongside Partners Randi Mason and Latisha Thompson and Senior Managing Director of Operations Jenni Eastman. In his speech, Steve noted that it’s Morrison Cohen’s team that makes it the best managed firm.
